Allan Ssemakula – Marketing Director LaFarge | #ICCCC2016 Speaker Profile

• He holds a DIPL of Legal Practice from Law Development Centre in Uganda and a Bachelor of Legal Laws (LLB) Honours Degree from the University of Dar-es-Salaam.

• He started his career as a Junior Associate at Messrs Katende, Ssempebwa & Co. Advocates before starting his corporate career at Total Uganda in 2006 as a Retail Territory Executive and progressed his career taking on several assignments with the Retail Sales Department.

• He then joined East African Breweries Limited (EABL), Uganda, which is a subsidiary of Diageo in 2010 as the Sales Capabilities Manager and later headed Sales Operations and Strategy and Division Sales Manager.
• Since joining Hima Cement; he has designed and set up the marketing & innovation organization of the company.

Hima Cement is part of the LafargeHolcim Group, the largest building materials producer in the world. The company is committed to environmental protection and complies with all applicable laws and regulations; conducts its business consistent with sustainable development principles.

We have significantly reduced the use of Fossil fuel and now use up to 57% of biomass fuels in our production operations thus reducing carbon emissions. Hima uses biomass fuels generated from coffee husks, rice husks, palm kernels, G-nuts husks and baggase which also supports Ugandan farmers.

In 2013, Hima Cement completed installation of a new bag filter technology at its Kasese plant to stop dust Emissions in its old production line.

We also continue to rehabilitate all used up quarries to their former productive state; 54 hectares to date.
